Launch a New Affiliate

Me2/ plans to create dozens of Affiliate ensembles across the nation in the years to come. If you are interested in learning more about the procedure for launching a Me2/ Affiliate ensemble in your community, these are some basics you need to know:

  • Affiliates must be committed to creating a stigma-free zone for all of your activities.
  • There are no auditions or fees charged to participate.
  • Ensembles must include musicians living with mental illnesses (we aim for at least 50% of Me2/ participants to have a diagnosis).
  • Nobody will be asked to disclose their diagnosis (although we find that many people do so willingly when they know they are in a supportive environment).
  • Programs should primarily focus on classical music as opposed to other styles.
  • Affiliates can be chamber music ensembles, orchestras, choruses, flute choirs – any ensemble that focuses on classical music and erasing stigma.
  • An affiliate can form as an all-volunteer group; an independent non-profit; or function under the auspices of an existing nonprofit organization. We will help you ascertain which model is best for you.

The national office of Me2/ will provide support materials (logos, flyers, sample press releases, etc) and advice as you work to establish your affiliate, but the real work must happen with a committed group of people in your location. We recommend that you have a group of at least 3-5 people who will serve as your “launch committee” before contacting Me2/ to discuss affiliation. When you are ready, please complete the form below and we will respond as soon as possible.
